Happy New Year!

December 27th, 2010

This is a design for the new year of 2011, which is the year of the rabbit. The idea behind this is to impart a spirit of reproductivity, whether through projects or whatever we give to the world.

house drawings

October 31st, 2010

While on vacation traveling around in Brazil in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, I made a series of drawings of houses that I fantasized would be nice to live in or at least visit. Surrounded as I was by favelas, I was inspired to delve into this fantasy world and imagine living spaces that are absurd and playful.

intimate conversations with strangers

September 22nd, 2010

These conversations took place in the mid-Manhattan library over the course of three hours. I spoke with five strangers. Of the five, two came to me without any coaxing, because they had seen the red blanket on the seat from a distance and they were drawn to it out of curiosity. I explained the project to start the conversations, and the responses were either appreciation for this art form or skepticism. When they were seated on the red blanket, I felt closer to them for a short while, because they unconsciously agreed to conditions of “intimacy”.

Conversations lasted from 10 – 15 minutes.
Topics included life, death, microfinance and travelling.
The types of people I talked to were tourists, students, and enterpreneurs

In the absence of an existing chess set, Tak and I made one from slate on this July 4th. The heaviness was quite satisfying.

birdmania

birdmania

Birdmania, the successor to Meowmania, follows in the “mania” series. These are individual single-serving sites that attempt to encapsulate one idea within a page. Meowmania was inexplicable and its primary function was to serve the entertainment needs of cats. Birdmania is a bit like an aviary you can access in a web browser.
